Ukrainian polar explorers named iceberg near Vernadskyi station in honor of naval drone

The name symbolizes courage and bravery and complements the traditions of naming objects near the Ukrainian Antarctic station.
Ukrainian researchers from the Antarctic station “Akademik Vernadsky” gave a name to a large iceberg drifting nearby. This was reported by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The new ice giant was named Magura – in honor of the Ukrainian naval drone, which successfully hit a number of Russian warships and helicopters during a full-scale war.
It is also the name of a picturesque mountain in the Lviv region and the mythical daughter of the god Perun, the patroness of brave warriors.
As noted by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the name Magura symbolically complements the existing traditions of naming objects and equipment of polar explorers: at the Vernadsky station, a diesel generator was named Marichka, and a newborn seal was named Sea Baby. The Magura iceberg became another element of this symbolic trinity.
Also, the day before, USM wrote that the SBU had transferred the legendary Sea Baby naval drone to the museum.
