The State Bureau of Investigation has completed the investigation into the person involved in the “Boyko Towers” case

The court will consider the case of embezzlement of over $400 million during the purchase of drilling rigs for State Joint Stock Company “Chornomornaftogaz”.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.
This concerns one of the defendants in the criminal proceedings regarding the embezzlement of funds of State Joint Stock Company “Chornomornaftogaz” during the purchase of offshore drilling rigs, known as the “Boyko rig case”.
The investigation established that the defendant acted as an intermediary in a criminal organization created by representatives of the former state leadership.
“He found, acquired and organized the activities of fictitious non-resident companies, through which in 2010–2011, together with other accomplices, he seized funds of State Joint Stock Company “Chornomornaftogaz” in the amount of over $404 million. These funds were used to purchase two offshore jack-up drilling rigs on the basis of contracts with two foreign companies. According to the investigation, the cost of the drilling platforms was overestimated by almost two times,” the SBI noted.
As LIGA.net, writes, we are talking about Anton Frolov, an assistant to banker Natalia Ignatchenko, who, according to the investigation, helped organize money laundering schemes for the organization of ex-President Yanukovych.
It should be noted that the actions of the defendant are qualified as participation in a criminal organization, appropriation of property in especially large amounts, official forgery, forgery of documents and legalization of criminal proceeds. The sanctions provide for up to 12 years of imprisonment.
Recall that in 2023, Ukraine returned the “Boyko Towers” in the Black Sea under control.
Reference. The Boyko Towers are gas and oil drilling platforms off the coast of Crimea in the Black Sea. In 2015, they were occupied by Russia, and with the start of the full-scale invasion, they were used for military purposes. In particular, as helipads and for the placement of radar equipment.
