Protection of ports and agricultural infrastructure remains a challenge for agribusiness, — Kernel

As of today, direct losses to the agricultural sector in Ukraine already amount to $11 billion, indirect losses to $72 billion.

Representatives of the agricultural holding Kernel stated this during the international conference “Fair Play”.

As part of the panel discussion, the participants discussed the importance of implementing international sanctions against the Russian Federation as a lever of economic influence on the aggressor country.

“For agribusiness, the protection of ports and agricultural infrastructure remains a major challenge. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, direct losses to the sector already amount to $11 billion, indirect losses to $72 billion — reduction in production, mining, destruction of logistics chains, etc. Up to 25% of the territory of Ukraine is temporarily occupied or contaminated with mines. At the same time, Russia uses occupied assets and agricultural lands for its own production,” emphasized Kateryna Spivakova, Director of Communications and Government Relations at Kernel.

Kernel added that by attacking Ukraine’s agricultural infrastructure, the Russian Federation poses a threat to global food security and, in fact, continues to blackmail the international community.

It should be noted that the international conference “Fair Play” organized by the Office of the President of Ukraine was dedicated to the introduction of additional sanctions against the Russian Federation. In particular, the event was attended by the EU Special Envoy for the implementation of sanctions in connection with the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine, David O’Sullivan, and other government representatives, foreign diplomats, and international partners.

Earlier, USM reported that shares of Kernel and other agricultural holdings began to grow again.
