The Netherlands detained the executives of a company that supplied spare parts for Russia’s shadow fleet

The heads of a family-owned company that supplied ship spare parts to Russia’s “shadow fleet” have been arrested in the Netherlands.

According to the Financieele Dagblad  (FD) and de Volkskrant, the company is Prins Supply.

The Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) this week arrested the entire management of a family-owned company from the city of Schiedam that supplies ship equipment. It is suspected of supplying goods to Russia in circumvention of Western sanctions.

Four people were detained: two directors and two managers; at least three of them are members of the same family.

The prosecutor’s office has seized their assets worth several million euros. During searches of the company’s office in Schiedam and four residential buildings, administrative documents, data carriers and around 65,000 euros in cash were seized.

FIOD suspects that the detainees were involved in the prohibited supply or support of vessels that are part of the so-called Russian “shadow fleet”.

USM previously reported that the EU is close to adopting a new package of sanctions against Russia.
