Russia’s only aircraft carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov, may be decommissioned

The Russian Defense Ministry may refuse to restore the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov – its repair and modernization have been stopped.
This is reported by DW with reference to Russian media.
In the near future, representatives of the Main Command of the Russian Navy and the United Shipbuilding Corporation will make a decision on whether it is advisable to continue work on the modernization of the ship.
Former commander of the Pacific Fleet Admiral Sergey Avakyants said that this is a “very expensive and ineffective naval weapon.”
Earlier, USM reported that the Russians formed a mechanized battalion from the crew of the aircraft carrier cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov”, because the ship has been idle for years.
