USPA attracts over $100 million for the implementation of the most important projects: details

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority is raising over $100 million of its own funds to implement the most important projects.
This was stated by the head of the USPA, Oleksandr Semyrha, during a round table dedicated to the development of transport infrastructure.
Representatives of the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), IFC — International Finance Corporation and other partners of Ukraine took part in the discussion.
During the event, Oleksandr Semyrha presented a vision of the further development of the port industry in wartime.
“We are actively moving forward — despite constant threats and shelling. Our main priority now is to think about how to ensure the development of the industry in these difficult conditions and prepare today for competitive struggle with European ports in peacetime,” he noted.
The head of the USPA said that the main efforts of the state-owned enterprise are focused on critical areas: infrastructure, digitalization, international support, financing and updating of the technical fleet.
“We are raising over $100 million of our own funds to implement the most important projects — the repair of berths, railway infrastructure in ports, roads, buildings and other facilities that have been damaged or destroyed. But we are investing not only in concrete and metal. We are investing in technology,” emphasized Semyrha.
According to him, Ukraine is actively implementing new technological solutions in ports: “USPA is focused on attracting modern technologies, we are developing our own digital services, we are actively learning from international partners how to effectively use drones for various types of work. This saves time and money. Why? As an example: more than 60% of our fleet was built back in the days of the USSR, the costs of their maintenance are significant, and components and spare parts for them are produced in Russia. Therefore, we are very limited in our ability to repair them. Therefore, part of the renewal program is the creation of a drone technology center, as well as the purchase of a modern fleet, vessels, pilot boats and other equipment for all Ukrainian ports.
”USM previously reported that over 130 million tons of cargo were transported through the Ukrainian maritime corridor.
