UN Human Rights Mission Documented Consequences of Russian Attacks on the Port of Pivdennyi

The UN mission delegation documented eyewitness accounts and assessed the impact of the Russian attacks on the operation of the Pivdennyi port.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine visited the port on Wednesday, August 27, the Pivdennyi Sea Port Authority reported.
The delegation, including human rights experts, viewed the port’s water area and damaged infrastructure, and spoke with witnesses to war crimes.
During the meeting, the mission representatives documented eyewitness accounts and assessed the impact of the attacks on the operation of the port, which is a key element of global food security. The mission expressed gratitude for the cooperation and stressed the importance of further information exchange to document war crimes.
“International attention to the situation is extremely important to us. Ukrainian ports remain a key element of food security in the world, and we are grateful that this position is reflected at the UN level,” said Artem Lytvynov, Head of the Pivdennyi Sea Port Authority.
As previously reported by USM, as of August 2025, more than 440 damages to port infrastructure facilities were recorded in Ukraine. This was stated by the Head of the USMPA, Oleksandr Semirga, in an interview with USM.
