Ukraine and the EU have agreed on new trade terms: more agricultural exports without duties

The new regime will replace the temporary “trade visa-free regime”, which expired in June this year.

The Ukraine-EU Association Committee has approved updated trade conditions, which provide for the abolition of part of the customs duties and the expansion of quotas for Ukrainian agricultural products. This is reported by “Ukrainian Pravda”.

As reported by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka, the decision will enter into force on October 29, 15 days after its adoption. Thus, Ukrainian exporters will be able to take advantage of the updated conditions by the end of the year.

“Ukrainian exporters will have the opportunity to take advantage of the new trade regime this year. The decision is bilateral and valid indefinitely,” Kachka emphasized.

The new agreement provides for an increase in the volume of duty-free exports for the main categories of Ukrainian goods, in particular grain, poultry, honey, dairy products and sugar. At the same time, part of the tariffs that were previously applied to Ukrainian imports will be completely abolished.

According to the European Commission, the review of trade terms was carried out taking into account Ukraine’s economic stability during the war and the importance of stable food supplies to the European market.

The next review of trade terms is scheduled for 2028 and, according to Kachka, should provide for further expansion of access of Ukrainian goods to the EU internal market.

The decision was another step in the process of deepening Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and supporting the Ukrainian economy under martial law.

The day before, USM reported that Ukrainian wheat was regaining market share in Egypt.
