Syrian port of Latakia receives consignment of Ukrainian wheat

More than 100 thousand tons of grain were delivered to the Syrian ports of Latakia and Tartus. In particular, one of the grain consignments was from Ukraine.

In early November, the Moayady vessel arrived at the port of Latakia, which delivered about 23.5 thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat, writes the Syrian publication Sana.

According to the port administration, the grain is already being unloaded, it will be transferred to the Syrian Grain Institution according to the schedule. The deliveries were made within the framework of a permanent procurement program.

Four vessels also entered the port of Tartus, delivering 94 thousand tons of wheat. The Director General of the Syrian Grain Institution, Hassan Osman, reported that these consignments are part of a broader import program, which should strengthen food security and guarantee the uninterrupted supply of bread to the country. He noted that the institution carefully monitors unloading, transportation and storage in order to preserve the quality of the grain.

In particular, in September, two ships with Ukrainian wheat arrived in the Syrian ports of Latakia and Tartus: 16 thousand tons to Latakia, 21.5 thousand tons to Tartus.

Let us remind you that at the same time, Syria continues to receive stolen Ukrainian grain from Russia. Thus, in October, the bulk carrier Matros Koshka, which loaded 27,500 tons of grain in occupied Sevastopol, turned off its AIS and arrived for unloading at the port of Latakia.
