Panamax freight from Ukraine fell by $1/ton

At the beginning of November, the tariffs for “panamaxes” decreased moderately, while the parameters for “handysizes” remained unchanged.

Freight rates for “panamaxes” that export grain from Ukraine decreased by approximately $1 per ton. This was stated by ASAP Agri analyst and AtriaBrokers freight broker Pavlo Lysenko, writes Latifundist.

At the same time, rates for “handysizes” are stable at the level of the previous period – this is due to the limited supply of tonnage in the region.

Thus, according to the broker, the freight for “panamaxes” for the transportation of corn from Ukrainian deep-water ports to South China is $45–46 per ton.

In the “handysize” segment, the rate for shipping 30,000 tons of corn to the east coast of Italy remains at $24–25 per ton.

For short routes and “coasters” (6,000 tons) from Danube ports to Eastern Italy, the freight is stable — $36–38 per ton.

According to Lysenko, the recent subjective revival in the “coaster” segment has led to an increase in the number of available vessels, which was the reason for a moderate decrease in rates on short routes. On longer or specific routes, the tariff remained unchanged.

The day before, USM reported that 9,000 wagons are heading towards the ports of Great Odesa daily.
