Russia equips “customs” in the occupied port of Mariupol

The occupation administration is trying to legalize the integration of the Mariupol port into its logistics.

The Russians are setting up a multilateral checkpoint across the “state border of the Russian Federation” on the territory of the captured Mariupol port. This was reported by the press service of the Mariupol City Council.

According to the official version of the occupation authorities, the creation of a “permanent cargo checkpoint” should “expand domestic and foreign trade”. But in fact, this is an attempt to legalize the occupation of the city and fully integrate the port into the Russian logistics system.

The occupation administration claims that dredging work is currently underway at the port, after the completion of which it will supposedly be able to accept vessels with a capacity of up to 25 thousand tons. The plans are to increase the volume of grain, coal and metals exported to the countries of North Africa and the Middle East.

From the beginning of 2025 to August, the Russians have exported more than 36 thousand tons of grain from Mariupol, as well as metal from the Azovstal and Ilyich plants. In addition, the port serves as a military logistics hub for the transfer of weapons, equipment and supplies to Russian military units.

Earlier, USM wrote that the occupiers are preparing the port of Mariupol to receive military boats.
