The shipping administration has issued the first document for EU inland waterway boatmasters

The institution has issued the first confirmation document for the certificate of a merchant vessel pilot for navigation on EU inland waterways.

The confirmation document contains a unique number and an authentic QR code that corresponds to the number of the qualification document, the department said.

This decision became possible within the framework of the transitional mechanism, which is in effect until Ukraine receives the implementing act of the European Commission in accordance with Directive (EU) 2017/2397 on the recognition of professional qualifications in inland navigation.

Persons whose certificates were valid as of 01.01.2022 can apply to the Shipping Administration with a certain package of documents.

The Shipping Administration stated that this is an important step towards normalizing the transition period and preserving the professional capabilities of Ukrainian riverboatmen.
