Insurance for Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea increased by 200%


The cost of insurance for tankers transporting Russian oil from the Black Sea has increased by 200%. Freight rates have also increased.

This was reported by the Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladislav Vlasyuk.

According to him, compared to last year, the cost of delivery (freight) of 100 thousand tons of Russian oil by an Aframax class tanker from the Baltic ports of the Russian Federation to India has increased by 49.1% (from 5.42 to 8.08 million USD), and to China – by 36.4% (from 7.39 to 10.08 million USD).

The cost of insurance for tankers operating through the Black Sea has increased by 200%. From 0.25-0.3% rates for 100-120 thousand USD to 0.5-0.75% for 200-300 thousand USD. USA, from the average market value of a tanker of approximately 40 million USD.
