Ukraine to start importing American LNG from Greek terminal in March

The first supplies of liquefied gas from the United States will go to Ukraine via the Balkans, and transportation will be carried out by pipeline through four countries.
In March 2026, Ukraine will receive the first LNG shipments from the United States. The delivery route will pass through the Greek Revitus terminal and the pipeline infrastructure of the Balkan region, Reuters writes.
The start of supplies was announced by the joint Greek company Atlantic – SEE LNG Trade S.A., which signed a corresponding agreement with Naftogaz in November 2025.
Gas from the United States will be delivered to a terminal in Greece, after which it will be transported to Ukraine via Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova. Thus, Ukraine will actually gain access to a new route alternative for energy supplies, bypassing Russian infrastructure.
“This is a mutually beneficial cooperation for Ukraine and America, which proclaims a new route to replace Russian gas in Europe and demonstrates how American business supports Ukraine’s energy security,” the US embassy emphasized.
Also in 2025, Greece agreed to import 700 million cubic meters of American LNG annually, starting in 2030, which indicates a long-term focus on American energy sources.
The European Commission is confident that increasing LNG imports from the US will not lead to the creation of a new energy dependence for Europe, unlike the practice that has long been imposed by the Russian Gazprom.
Also, earlier, DTEK imported LNG from the US by sea via Lithuania for the first time.
