Grain wagon congestion is decreasing in the direction of the ports of the Odesa region

The reduction is facilitated by the increase in the volume of unloading wagons in the ports of Great Odesa – currently the figure is 1,122 wagons per day.
This was announced by Valerii Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Work of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, during an online meeting with market participants.
According to him, as of February 12, the number of loaded grain wagons moving towards the ports of Great Odesa decreased to 9,336 units compared to 9,850 a week ago.
“We are gradually starting to clear these traffic jams. The situation remains difficult due to impacts on the infrastructure – hub stations, traction substations, and energy. However, we are working and gradually improving the indicators,” Valery Tkachev noted.
In 10 days of February, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 932.4 thousand tons of grain cargo. This is 2% (+15.3 thousand tons) more than in January, but 11% less than in the same period last year. The average daily grain load is 72.25 thousand tons, which is 10% less than in January.
846.8 thousand tons of grain were transported in export traffic – 3% more than in January. Of this volume, 762.7 thousand tons (almost 90%) were sent to ports, and 84.1 thousand tons (10%) – to western border crossings.
