Russia threatens EU over plans to restrict movement of Russian ships

Russian government officials are threatening the European Union with “fatal consequences” if the EU begins blocking Russian ships in its own waters.

This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, writes Censor.NET with reference to Russian media.

Thus, Ryabkov recalled the “considerable experience of the Russian fleet in protecting freedom of navigation” and hinted that restricting the movement of ships would become a “red line”.

According to Ryabkov, “experiments” on the Russian presence in the world’s oceans could “end badly for the experimenters themselves”.

Recall that Russia’s budget deficit in 2025 reached $72 billion, which was the highest figure since 2009. In December, the price of Urals oil fell to $39 per barrel on FOB terms, and in some places even lower. This was influenced by the systematic work of the international community against the Russian “shadow fleet”, which currently has about 1,423 tankers, 921 of which are under sanctions by the EU, the US and the UK.
