India allows Russians to insure tankers for another month

India has temporarily extended the permits of four Russian companies to insure tankers calling at its ports.
The temporary extension will last for one month, Bloomberg reports.
This will allow Soglasie Insurance Company Ltd., Ugoria Group of Insurance Companies, Sberbank Insurance and ASTK Insurance LLC to provide insurance coverage after February 20, when their licenses expire. Typically, permits are issued for a period of one year or more.
Four other Russian insurers retain permits valid until 2029-2030 to provide third-party liability insurance coverage for vessels operating in Indian waters.
As previously reported by USM, in total, in January, tankers of the “shadow fleet” exported 14.3 million tons of oil from Russia — 1.41 million tons less than the previous month.
