Ukraine can solve the problem of transit restrictions to Hungary using ports, — Agrarian Council

Viktor Orban’s statements about restricting agricultural exports through Hungary are a solvable problem thanks to the ports of the Danube and Great Odesa.
This opinion was expressed by the deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
He noted that Ukraine has the technical capabilities to eliminate the threat of stopping the transit of agricultural products through the territory of Hungary by increasing the intensity of sea transportation and using the capacities of the Danube ports.
“Statements regarding the possible cessation of exports through Hungary are a problem, but it is solvable. The volumes of transit through this country do not exceed 700 thousand tons per year, while we ship about 4.5-5 million tons through sea corridors every month,” Marchuk commented.
He recalled that logistical threats from certain neighboring countries have a predominantly political basis, while Ukraine has already established alternative routes, in particular towards Romania.
The expert emphasized that, despite provocations and border blockades, demand for Ukrainian products on world markets — in the EU, Asia, and Africa — remains stable.
USM previously reported that exporting grain only through certified elevators could have negative consequences.
