Satellites record oil spill near Novorossiysk

A plume of oil products and film pollution were recorded in the area of the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk.

This was reported by the head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, Petro Andryushchenko.

According to him, an enlarged fragment of the Sentinel-2 image from June 6 clearly shows a plume of oil products stretching from the area of the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk towards the main fairway.

Two days later, in the Sentinel-2A image from June 8, numerous film pollutions in the form of individual spots and long linear slicks were already observed in the water area of the bay.

“What caused the oil spill is unknown, but it is definitely a spill from warships, given the epicenter of occurrence,” Andryushchenko noted.

Recall that on June 8, a Russian oil depot was hit, through which oil products are supplied to the Novorossiysk port terminal.
