Kernel oil terminal comes under Russian attack for the third time in four days

In the Odesa region, the vegetable oil terminal of the Kernel company was damaged as a result of another attack by a Russian drone.
The latest attack occurred on the morning of July 14. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine, citing a statement by the company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on Tuesday evening.
“The attack caused a fire and seriously damaged most of the terminal’s sunflower oil storage capacity and transshipment infrastructure,” the statement said.
The company added that a significant amount of sunflower oil stored at the terminal, including sunflower oil owned by third parties, was lost as a result of the attack.
“Due to the long duration of the fire and the ongoing efforts to extinguish the fire, the exact amount of such losses cannot be determined at this stage,” Kernel noted.
At the same time, the company emphasized that there were no casualties among the company’s employees, thanks to safety measures and emergency response procedures.
Kernel is currently carrying out cleanup work and assessing the extent of the damage and related losses. The full operational and financial impact of the attack is still being assessed.
USM previously reported that the port of Chornomorsk was subjected to massive attacks on the night of July 11-12. As a result of the shelling, Kernel’s port assets suffered significant damage. At the time, it was reported that about 45,000 tons of wheat and 9,000 tons of sunflower oil were blocked, lost or damaged as a result of the attacks.
