The Verkhovna Rada supported the appointment of Mykola Kalashnyk as Minister of Infrastructure

The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Mykola Kalashnyk to the position of Minister of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine.
The Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint ministers to the new government. In favor — 264 deputies.
The proposal to appoint Kalashnyk was submitted by the newly appointed Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky. Prior to that, Mykola Kalashnyk headed the Kyiv Regional State Administration since March 24, 2025.
The appointment comes against the backdrop of the reformatting of the current Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine. Currently, the Ministry of Development is responsible for, in particular, the areas of road, railway, aviation and water transport, as well as port infrastructure.
Within the framework of the new distribution of government powers, the infrastructure and transport blocks should be separated into a separate Ministry of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine. At the same time, the issue of regional policy and community development should be transferred to the Ministry of Regions.
As a reminder, a few days ago, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced that instead of the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, they plan to restore a separate Ministry of Infrastructure as part of the upcoming changes in the government.
It should be noted that a separate Ministry of Infrastructure existed in Ukraine until the end of 2022. In December of the same year, the government merged it with the Ministry of Community and Territories Development and created the Ministry of Community, Territories and Infrastructure Development, headed by Oleksandr Kubrakov.
In 2024, the department was headed by Oleksiy Kuleba, and later the ministry received its current name – the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
