The European Commission has launched an audit of qualifications in Ukrainian inland navigation

The first stage of the European Commission audit of the system of professional qualifications in inland navigation has begun in Ukraine.
The Shipping Administration reported this.
The purpose of the audit is to confirm the compliance of the Ukrainian system with the requirements of the European Union and ensure the recognition of professional documents of crew members of inland navigation vessels in EU countries.
These are qualification certificates, service records of crew members of inland navigation vessels and ship’s logs, which will be issued by the Shipping Administration. If the procedure is successful, Ukraine will be able to obtain the European Commission implementing act necessary for the recognition of these documents at the EU level.
The audit is carried out in accordance with Directive (EU) 2017/2397 of 12 December 2017 on the recognition of professional qualifications in inland navigation and repealing Council Directives 91/672/EEC and 96/50/EC. The inspection is being conducted online with the support of the EU technical assistance project “Promoting the Transport Development of the Dnipro River”.
This is an important step towards the integration of Ukrainian inland waterway transport into the European space, the department noted.
Earlier, USM reported that the head of the Shipping Administration was suspended at his request after accusations by People’s Deputy Skorokhod.
