Underwater detonation could have sunk ships: drone warhead found on Danube

In Odesa region, divers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have removed the warhead of the Russian Shahed from the Danube

A warhead of a Russian Shahed-type strike drone was discovered in the Danube River in the Odesa region. This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region on October 8.

Divers-pyrotechnicians were involved in the removal of the explosive find. Specialists removed the warhead from the water for further neutralization.

“The detonation of such a mass of explosives under water could have led to severe damage to vessels and the death of people,” the State Emergency Service emphasized.

It should be noted that the high-explosive incendiary warhead of the Shahed can contain more than 50 kg of explosives.

The department urged not to approach unknown objects in the water and not to try to get them on their own.

The day before, USM wrote that Bulgaria and Romania would receive satellite images of the sea areas where the Russian Federation attacked civilian vessels on October 6.
