Grain from Ukraine: another 25,000 tons of grain went to Somalia
Another 25,000 tons of wheat were sent to Somalia as part of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative.
The bulk carrier Neva left the port of Odesa today and is moving along the “grain corridor” as part of a caravan, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported on Facebook.
“Despite russia’s terrorist attacks on civilian infrastructure, Ukraine continues to fight world hunger. These 25,000 tons are direct aid from the Ukrainian state. The delivery of humanitarian cargo is implemented with the support of the Governments of Japan, France and Finland,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Development of Territories, Community and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Neva is already the third ship within the Initiative. The first two vessels sent 55,000 tons of wheat to Ethiopia, which is on the brink of famine. This is food for almost 200,000 people a year.
In total, since August 1, 533 ships left the ports of Great Odesa, which exported 13.3 million tons of Ukrainian food to the countries of Asia, Europe and Africa.
