Norwegian companies have improved working conditions for Ukrainian mariners
The wages of Ukrainian sailors working on Norwegian ships are increased, and the amount of compensation is also increased.
In the course of negotiations, the Trade Union of Maritime Transport Workers of Ukraine and the Norwegian Shipowners Association (NSA) reached an agreement on increasing the wages of Ukrainian sailors for the period 2023-2024 by 3% (1.5% annually).
They will also increase the amount of compensation in the event of a sailor’s death during work to 100,000 US dollars.
In case of loss of working capacity, the compensation will be $160,000 for officers (instead of $150,000), and $115,000 for privates (instead of $110,000).
The NSA consists of 130 shipowners owning 1,400 vessels and drilling rigs worldwide, employing around 50,000 seafarers and offshore workers from approximately 50 different countries.
