A cargo ship capsized in Russia: there are casualties
On Sakhalin, the cargo ship “Grygory Lovtsov” capsized while entering the sea port of Korsakov.
At the entrance to the port of Korsakov in the Sakhalin region, the cargo ship “Grygory Lovtsov” capsized. This was reported by the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.
According to preliminary data, the incident occurred on October 18 at around 14:00 local time. “Grygory Lovtsov” transported crushed stone and sand. According to preliminary information, a capsize occurred during overloading, which led to the overturning of the vessel.
There were 7 crew members on board the vessel. As a result of the incident, two people died, another person was hospitalized. Currently, the Russians are conducting search and rescue operations aimed at establishing the location of four more people.
Two tugboats and a rescue vessel are working at the scene of the accident. Local emergency workers are also training divers.
