A foreign sailor tried to transport cannabis to Ukraine on a ship

The drugs were found on a foreign ship in the port of Izmail during an inspection of the sailor’s cabin.

Border guards found two bundles of cannabis during an inspection of a foreign vessel. Thus, the 31-year-old sailor hid drugs in the cabin in a box with toothpaste, the police of the Odesa region reports.

The results of an express test conducted by police officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that the detected substance was a narcotic drug.

The man explained that the discovered substance really belonged to him, and he kept it for his own use.

The police started criminal proceedings and sent physical evidence for examination, and the offender was detained.

The sailor was informed about the suspicion. He faces imprisonment from 8 to 10 years with confiscation of property. At the moment, the investigators are asking for the selection of a preventive measure for the suspect.
