A ship carrying wheat from Ukraine to Ethiopia moves through the grain corridor
The first bulk carrier with Ukrainian wheat as part of the new humanitarian program GrainFromUkraine has already left the port of Odesa. The cargo was sent with the support of the Government of Germany and the World Food Program of the United Nations.
The ship moves along the “grain corridor” as part of a caravan of 8 ships. They were loaded with 269,000 tons of Ukrainian agricultural products for countries in Africa, Asia and Europe. In particular, the bulk carrier Bozburun M, chartered by the United Nations, is carrying 40,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat to Ethiopia.
GrainFromUkraine envisages sending up to 10 ships with Ukrainian grain every month. By the end of spring 2023, more than 5 million people can be saved from hunger if the Program is implemented.
