Another tanker loaded with fuel oil has sent a distress signal in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation, near the Kerch Strait.

The tanker “Volgoneft-109” sent a distress signal near the port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar Territory, reports “Kavkaz Realii”.

On the night of December 17, a tanker loaded with fuel oil sent a distress signal near the port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar Territory near the Kerch Strait and occupied Crimea. The cause was a crack on board. The vessel moved to anchor near the village of Kuchugury, southeast of Cape Pekly.

According to preliminary information, the vessel is transporting about four thousand tons of fuel oil. The tightness of one of the cargo tanks has been broken, due to which oil products are entering the ballast tank, but not into the sea yet. There are 14 crew members on board. It is known that the captain was offered evacuation, but he refused.

Recall, on December 15, two Russian tankers were sinking in the Kerch Strait. First, the tanker “Volgoneft-212”, which was carrying 4 tons of oil, suffered an accident. An hour later, a storm hit “Volgoneft-239”.

The cause of the accident was a strong storm. One of the tankers was cut almost in half by the waves. As a result of the accidents, 4,300 tons of fuel oil and other petroleum products could have spilled into the sea.
