Canada introduced sanctions against the Russian “Atomflot”
Canada added to the sanctions list the Russian Federal State Enterprise “Atomflot” and a number of research and design bureaus.
Individuals and 29 organizations have been added to the list, reports CTS with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada.
In particular, the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Atomflot” was under sanctions.
This is a Russian enterprise whose duties include the operation and maintenance of the nuclear civil icebreaker fleet of the Russian Federation. The ship base is located in Murmansk.
As a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company is under the sanctions of all EU countries, as well as Great Britain, Ukraine, Switzerland, Australia and (from now on) Canada.
In addition to nuclear icebreakers, the organization has at its disposal the infrastructure that supports them: nuclear maintenance vessels, dry cargo for the transportation of solid radioactive waste, a floating technical base for dosimetric monitoring and control of the radiation background, etc.
