CMA CGM has become the second major operator to return to Ukrainian ports with its own fleet.
One of the world’s leading container carriers, the French company CMA CGM, has returned to the port of Odesa. This was reported by the Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine.
The first call of the CMA CGM Lila Canada vessel took place on February 7 at the Brooklyn-Kyiv Port terminal, the next one is expected on February 21.
This is the first CMA CGM vessel to call in Odessa after the start of a full-scale war.
The French company has become the second major container operator to resume operations in Ukraine with its fleet. Its vessels will operate between Greece and Ukraine on the Piraeus – Istanbul – Odesa route.
Prior to this, in July 2024, the first call of its own container ship to Odesa was made by the largest international container line Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC, Switzerland).
We will remind, on August 17, 2023, it was from the Brooklyn-Kyiv Port container terminal that the “Joseph Schulte” vessel, which had been blocked in the port of Odesa since February 23, 2022, left. This vessel became the first to pass through the Ukrainian maritime corridor.
As USM reported, the day before, container transportation to the ports of Ukraine was resumed by the MEDKON Lines company.
