Corruption in the Black Sea was discussed with Ukraine
The countries of the Black Sea region discussed the issue of safety at sea. In particular, it was about combating corruption.
The Ukrainian delegation took part in the 24th meeting of the Black Sea Memorandum Committee (PSCC24) in the city of Batumi, Georgia, the head of the Shipping Administration Yevhenii Ignatenko said.
Ukraine is a full member of the Committee of the Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control in the Black Sea Region, which convenes once a year alternately in each of the participating states. At the annual meetings, urgent issues in the field of port state control (PSC) of ships and ensuring the safety of shipping are resolved.
Representatives of the Shipping Administration took part in the discussion of issues related to port state control and inspections in the Black Sea region, as well as data exchange, inspection of vessel detentions and inspections of fishing vessels.
A separate topic of discussion is port state control outside the Black Sea. Information on PSC innovations introduced by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) was reviewed.
An important part of the meeting was a meeting with representatives of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), where the issue of preventing and eliminating the corruption component during ship inspections was raised.
