Freight for grain transportation from Ukraine decreased in all segments, — ASAP Agri

Freight rates have decreased against the backdrop of weak trade activity and increasing tonnage availability in the Black Sea-Mediterranean region.
Freight rates for grain transportation from Ukrainian ports continue to decline in all segments. This is reported by ASAP Agri analysts.
The main reason is the limited number of new applications for transportation due to weak activity in commodity markets. Additional pressure on the market is exerted by the increase in available tonnage in the Black Sea-Mediterranean region, as well as a decrease in bunker fuel prices. This strengthens the negotiating position of charterers and forces shipowners to make concessions.
According to Atria Brokers, the freight for the transportation of 30 thousand tons of corn from deep-water ports of Ukraine to the east coast of Italy has decreased to $ 27-28 / t, which is $ 1 / t less compared to the previous week.
In the “fireside” segment, rates are also showing a more significant drop. The transportation of 6,000 tons of corn from the Danube ports of Ukraine to the east coast of Italy is currently estimated at approximately $44/ton, which is $4/ton lower week-on-week.
Also, the day before, USM wrote that new rules for passage through the Sulina Canal will affect ships heading to Ukrainian ports.
