Freight rates for grain transportation from Ukraine are decreasing

Freight rates for transporting agricultural products from Ukrainian ports have fallen for almost all market segments.

The cost of transporting corn by “coasters” from the ports of the Danube to the east coast of Italy has decreased by $2/t, reported ASAP Agri analyst and Atria Brokers freight broker Pavlo Lysenko.

Thus, the freight of these vessels from the Danube to Italy has reached $32-34 per ton.

For “panamaxes” transporting corn or wheat from the deep-water ports of Greater Odessa to southern China, the rates have decreased by $1/t. They are now $42-44/t.

The freight of “handysizes” for transporting corn from the ports of Odesa to the east coast of Italy has also fallen by $1-2/t, reaching $21-22/t.

At the same time, the rates for transporting corn by barge from Reni or Izmail to Constanta remain stable – 9-10 € / t.

As USM wrote, the UDS recently announced a collapse in transportation on the Danube.
