Greece became the main carrier of Rosneft
Greek shipowners significantly increased the number of shipments thanks to the transportation of Rosneft.
The participation of Greek operators in Rosneft trade is growing steadily. This month, the share of the country’s shipowners in the transportation of Russian barrels is approaching the pre-sanctions level, Vortexa reported.
According to a report by the S&P Global Market Intelligence company, the number of ships that can potentially be used in the “shadow” fleet of the Russian Federation reaches 1,900 . Of the almost two thousand ships, the majority belong to Greece. Since the beginning of this year, more than 150 of these vessels have entered russian ports.
A notable connection of Greece to the movement of Rosneft is observed in a bay in the Peloponnese region. Thus, the transportation of russian oil through ship-to-ship operations from the Greek port of Kalamata increased by 60% compared to February — to 9.37 million barrels. This amount is almost half of all Russian ship-to-ship oil activity, writes Splash.
Ukraine continues to put pressure on important Greek shipowners who still trade with russia. In particular, we are talking about the companies TMS, Dynacom, Minerva Marine, Thenamaris and Delta Tankers. Previously, USM wrote that Russia еxports fuel to Saudi Arabia through ship-to-ship operations.
