In 2022, the Railways of Ukraine transported more than 150 million tons of cargo
According to the results of 2022, Ukrainian Railways transported 150 million 582 thousand tons of cargo, which is 52.1% less than the previous year.
“Cargo transportation almost halved in 2022. At the same time, all cargoes, without exception, reduced the volume of transportation. However, it is a very good indicator that grain transportation fell the least. The agricultural market has shown that it is stress-resistant, accepts challenges and withstands a blow,” said Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of UZ, writes Rail.insider.
He reminded that much was achieved thanks to the increase of grain transportation through the western border crossings to more than 1 million tons per month, as well as the work of the sea grain corridor.
Valery Tkachev expressed hope that grain transportation will grow in 2023 as well.
