Intelligence: Russia is stepping up the development of naval drones

The Russian Ministry of Defense has created an interdepartmental technical council for the development of unmanned systems and technologies for maritime applications.

This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

The intelligence service noted that the task of the newly created technical council is to accelerate the development and implementation of maritime unmanned systems in the Russian Armed Forces, in particular unmanned boats and drones.

“The council will direct its activities to support the development of various types of BECs – “Katran”, BECs “Skvorets VMF” (FPV), the heavy unmanned boat GRK 700 “Vizir” and additional technological solutions that can be used for the development of maritime unmanned systems. We are talking about the Hermes communication systems, the software and hardware complexes “Ploshchad” and “Orbita”, a universal ground control station for unmanned boats, etc.,” the report says.

In particular, the intelligence noted that the Russian Ministry of Defense has set specific deadlines for the implementation of the above-mentioned projects: by August 31, 2025 – selection of the most promising technologies; by October 31, 2025 – functional testing of selected developments by the Russian Navy; after that – formation of a state order, launch of serial production and official adoption of new equipment.

As previously reported by USM, the “Alligator-9” naval drone with laser weapons was presented in Ukraine.
