Large-scale reduction of tariffs for towing operations in Odesa seaport
Since June 9th, SE “Odesa Sea Commercial Port” has significantly changed the tariffs for the provision of services by tugboats of its own fleet when performing mooring operations.
According to the press service of the enterprise, when calculating the cost, the conditional volume of RoRo, Ro-Flow, OBO, RoLo vessels, car carriers and container carriers will be calculated using a coefficient of 0.7 to the vessel module, which, in fact, is a 30% discount to the tariff. The increase in tarif for night work and holidays (overtime) for these types of vessels was also canceled (USM referance – this increase was 100% on weekends at night).
In addition to the specified discount, as Vyacheslav Sorochan, Director of Agency of Stark shipping, told USM, that SE “Odesa Sea Commercial Port” also notified about a decrease in the towing dues for all other types of vessels over 140 m in length, by introducing a new tariff: $0.0709 per 1 cubic meter of vessel module. Previously, the operation of anchoring or mooring a vessel for all types of vessels was charged at $0.099 per 1 cubic meter of vessel module/operation). Thus, the new tariff is a 28.4% discount.
“Based on the foregoing, SE “Odesa Sea Commercial Port” invites all agents and shipowners for further productive cooperation regarding the provision of services by the port fleet tugs”, – SE OSCP summarized.
It is no secret that SE “Odesa Sea Commercial Port” has lost significant volumes of towing operations in the port of Odesa in recent years; Like other state-owned towing companies in ports, the SOE followed in the track of private towing companies with regard to tariff policy and did not enter into tariff wars with them. Time will show whether this step will bring additional volumes to the Odesa port fleet, or will lead to a general decrease in tariffs among private operators in the port of Odesa.
