Lithuania: Ukrainian grain will not cause problems on local markets

Lithuania continues to adhere to its position regarding Ukrainian agricultural products. The Ministry of Agriculture added that the grain is going to Klaipeda port.
The Minister of Agriculture of Lithuania Kyastutis Navickas assures that cheaper prices for Ukrainian grain will not cause problems on the local market, writes Evropeiska Pravda .
“The products go in transit – not to Lithuania, but directly to the Klaipeda seaport, and in order for the grain to reach the port, there are agreed mechanisms and safeguards,” the minister added.
According to him, Lithuania has a sad situation with the railway infrastructure, so it is not possible to transport large volumes of grain to the country. Lithuanian railways started transporting small volumes of Ukrainian agricultural products to Klaipeda port as early as May 2022.
Earlier, USM reported that the Lithuanian government plans to help Ukraine export up to 1 million tons of grain against the background of a temporary ban on the import of Ukrainian grain to Poland, as well as Slovakia, Hungary, and Bulgaria.
At the same time, Polish farmers have stopped the protest in Szczecin, which lasted more than a month. They demanded to close the borders for Ukrainian grain and financial support from the government.
