MSC canceled the first flight of the container service to the port of Odesa

Container operator MSC canceled the first call due to cargo checks and delays in customs clearance.

This is reported by the Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine.

According to the schedule, the flight of the container ship from the port of Odesa on June 20 was canceled.

The association noted that the cause was groundless cargo inspections and delays in customs clearance of export containers with agricultural products for an indefinite period.

“Because of this, the cargo is blocked indefinitely, and it also becomes more expensive due to additional storage costs and demurrage, which can reach 2-3 thousand dollars. This activity of the customs office endangers the launch of a regular container service to the ports of Greater Odesa,” AMEU emphasized.

Members of the association also called on the authorities to help solve the problem in order to prevent negative consequences for logistics and the economy of Ukraine in general.

It should be noted that MSC plans to connect the Odesa port and one of the largest Turkish Mediterranean hubs, the port of Tekirdag, with a feeder connection.

We will remind, at the end of May it became known that the Maersk company is launching the first container service to the ports of Great Odesa since the beginning of the full-scale war.
