Over 60 dolphins die after fuel oil spill in the Black Sea (video)
The accident of Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea caused an ecological disaster, which has already killed more than fifty dolphins.
After the accident of Russian tankers in the Kerch Strait, ecologists found 61 dead dolphins. The death of 32 was probably caused by a fuel oil spill in the Black Sea. This is reported by “Krym.Realii”.
Reports of dead cetaceans are received almost daily. According to experts, most of the animals died in the first 10 days after the tanker accident.
Currently, the sea continues to wash marine mammals ashore. The most affected are the Azov whales – the most vulnerable among cetaceans.
Despite the fact that no live dolphin releases have been recorded so far, ecologists expect an increase in the number of affected cetaceans in the coming months.
USM previously wrote that waterfowl were the most affected by the ecological disaster in the Black Sea. Fuel oil coats their feathers, preventing them from taking off, causing the birds to die at sea or on shore.
