Poland may limit temporary storage of Ukrainian grain during transit, — UGA

The Ukrainian Grain Association has called on the Ministry of Agrarian Policy to verify information about possible restrictions on the temporary storage of Ukrainian grain during transit through Poland.

According to information received by market participants on September 8 from the Polish railway terminal and transport companies, the Polish customs allegedly orally banned the use of customs warehouses and silos for the temporary storage of grain of Ukrainian origin.
At the same time, no official written decision or regulatory document introducing such restrictions was provided to the market.
The UGA emphasizes that temporary storage is a necessary part of railway transit through Poland. Ukrainian grain must be reloaded from broad-gauge wagons into European-standard wagons, and warehouses and silos are used as a logistical buffer between different stages of transportation.
According to the association, the actual ban on such storage may increase the downtime of wagons, cause congestion at border crossings and terminals, reduce the capacity of the Polish railway infrastructure and increase the cost of logistics.
UGA asks the Ministry of Agrarian Policy to immediately verify the information and, if confirmed, to receive an official explanation from the Polish side and raise the issue with the Polish government.
The association also calls for preserving the possibility of using customs warehouses and silos in transit logistics and ensuring transparent and predictable rules for the transportation of Ukrainian agricultural products through Poland.
