Romania and Ukraine establish direct communication channel after naval drone explosion in Constanta

Romanian President talks about contacts with Ukraine after drone explosion in Constanta port. There were no new maritime incidents.
After the incident with a maritime drone in the port of Constanta, contacts took place between Romania and Ukraine at various levels, and a direct communication channel was established regarding similar events. This was stated by Romanian President Nicos Dan, Digi24 reports.
“Regarding aerial drones, we are working on it, making progress. Regarding the maritime drone, there is a preliminary report and a list of questions from all departments, which were transferred to the Ukrainian side,” Dan said.
A key progress compared to the situation two weeks ago is the direct communication channel for such incidents, thanks to which information does not pass through a chain of numerous decision-makers. The President added that there were no new maritime incidents after the explosion in Constanta.
Recall that in early June, a Ukrainian naval drone, which went off course under the influence of Russian electronic warfare, exploded in the Romanian port of Constanta. Even earlier, in late May, a Russian “Shahed” hit a high-rise building in the border town of Galati, after which Bucharest closed the Russian Consulate General and declared the Consul General persona non grata.
Earlier, USM wrote that Romania will purchase systems to detect naval drones in the Black Sea.
