Wheat futures sank on all key exchanges — Ukrainian prices fell by another 100–150 UAH/t

Speculative growth on US exchanges has faded after June rains improved the condition of crops in the US.

Wheat quotes on US exchanges are losing speculative growth, and in Ukraine prices for the new crop are decreasing. This is reported by the Electronic Grain Exchange of Ukraine.

On US exchanges, pressure has increased on July futures, which expire on July 14. Traders are massively selling off the nearest contracts, as September contracts are trading $20/t more expensive. Expectations of further growth against the backdrop of unfavorable weather in the US have not materialized – June rains have improved the condition of spring wheat.

During the week, July futures fell at once on all key platforms: soft winter SRW wheat in Chicago fell by 4.9% to $209.3/t, hard HRW in Kansas City by 5.6% to $220.5/t, spring HRS in Minneapolis by 12% to $200.9/t. September futures on Euronext in Paris fell by 0.6% to €202.5/t ($230.9/t).

In Ukraine, export purchase prices for wheat decreased by another 100–150 UAH/t per week — to 10,700–10,900 UAH/t ($212–216/t) for food and 10,100–10,200 UAH/t ($200–202/t) for feed with delivery to Black Sea ports.

Despite this, the export rate remains high. In the 26 days of June, Ukraine exported 1.313 million tons of wheat against 0.8 million tons last year. In total, 13.88 million tons were shipped in the 2025/26 MY — less than 15.72 million tons for the same period of the previous season.

The market is monitoring the weather in key regions. A heat wave of 40-45°C has already worsened the condition of crops in France and covered Eastern Europe, which could reduce the EU’s yield potential. The heat has also come to Ukraine, but the forecasted showers should reduce stress on plants. According to the FAO forecast, in the 2026/27 MY, world wheat production will decrease by 3.8% – to 810.9 million tons due to a decrease in the harvest in major exporters, in particular Australia, the EU and the USA.

Earlier, USM wrote that over 120 million tons of grain were transported via the Ukrainian maritime corridor.
