Russia again clearly violates the Grain Agreement – the US State Department
Russia is resorting to violations of the Black Sea Grain Agreement, within the framework of which Ukraine exports agricultural products from its ports to other countries.
The US State Department called Russia’s actions “clear violations” of the agreement. This was stated by the spokesperson of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, at a press briefing in Washington, Ukrinform reports.
“Russia continues to obstruct the normal operation of this rescue initiative,” Miller stressed.
According to him, sabotage by the Russians is not something new, because from the very beginning, since the “ink dried” on the first concluded grain agreement, Russia began to complain and openly obstruct it.
“We must clearly understand what is happening here: the parties agreed to ensure the unhindered export of Ukrainian food from three ports. Now Russia is refusing to allow ships to one of those three, and this is a clear violation of their commitments under the Black Sea Grain Initiative,” Miller added.
He reminded that such obstruction on the part of the Russian Federation and threats to withdraw from the agreement threaten to increase world food prices, as well as decrease the availability of food for the countries that need it the most.
Miller said that the US is once again calling on Russia to stop holding global food supplies hostage.
