Russian military equipment awaits evacuation at the naval base in Tartus
There are no Russian ships at the naval base in Tartus, and military equipment is waiting for evacuation at the berths.
This was reported by the monitoring group “Crimean Wind” with reference to satellite data.
A few kilometers from the coast, the Russian frigates “Admiral Grigorovich” and “Admiral Golovko” are in the sea.
A large landing ship “Alexander Shabalin” of the Baltic Fleet is also heading to the port in Tartus, where it is supposed to load some of the Russian equipment.
“The VDK of project 775 is capable of taking on board 13 medium (main) tanks or 13 armored personnel carriers, or 20 trucks, as well as the personnel of the landing force (for all loading options) – 150 people,” the report says.
The monitoring group notes that, based on the amount of equipment at the berths, about a dozen such flights will be needed.
USM previously reported that the European Union will discuss the closure of the Russian naval base in Tartus with the new Syrian authorities.
