Russian ship Sparta IV completes loading in Tartus

The loading of a Russian military transport ship, which is evacuating equipment after the fall of the Assad regime, is being completed in the Syrian port of Tartus.

The Russian ship Sparta IV is completing its loading in the Syrian port of Tartus. This is reported by the Crimean Wind monitoring group.

The ship is currently moored near the pier where the evacuated Russian military equipment was loaded on board.

Meanwhile, the frigate Admiral Grigorovich is waiting for the cargo ship to leave the port to escort it to Russian ports. The ship is currently located approximately 5 km west or northwest of Tartus.

As reported, the Sparta IV entered the Syrian port of Tartus on February 18. The ship left Baltiysk on January 26 with an official destination in Port Said, Egypt, but never arrived there. Instead, on February 9, it was spotted south of the island of Cyprus, where it was probably waiting for permission to enter Tartus.

Also, the day before, USM reported that the occupiers were restoring a secret Soviet submarine base in Crimea.
