Russian ships have increased activity near the coast of Portugal
At least one spy ship, as well as other Russian warships, have recently passed through Portuguese waters.
The Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Navy, Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo, has announced an increase in the activity of Russian ships in Portuguese waters. This is reported by The Portugal News.
According to the Portuguese military, a spy ship, as well as other Russian warships, have recently passed near Portugal.
“We are monitoring the increasingly intense transit of Russian Federation ships from north to south and vice versa,” the admiral said in a comment to CNN, “We respond to this with constant control, observing them and creating constant pressure through our presence.”
In particular, three ships (two frigates and a corvette), two tankers, three research vessels, and a spy ship passed through Portuguese waters in a short period of time.
The day before, USM wrote that damage was discovered in two submarine cables of NATO countries in the Baltic Sea.
