Ships with humanitarian Ukrainian grain will be sent to African countries

As part of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, vessels with Ukrainian grain will be sent to Nigeria and Sudan.

Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Markiyan Dmytrasevich announced the dispatch of humanitarian cargoes to African countries. This happened during a meeting with the deputy director of the World Food Program Karl Skau in Rome, reports  the Ministry of Agricultural Policy.

The parties discussed sending ships with Ukrainian humanitarian grain to Nigeria (25,000 tons) and Sudan (32,000 tons) as part of the Grain from Ukraine program.

It is also expected that a humanitarian cargo will be sent to Somalia.

“In addition, the issues of preparation for holding the next international summit on food security in Kyiv were considered. In particular, it is possible to expand the geography and nomenclature of supplies under the Grain from Ukraine initiative,” the ministry’s press service noted.

As previously reported by USM, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, invited South Africa to participate in the second summit of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative.
