Sybiga called on Europe to oppose the Russian shadow fleet

The Russian Federation poses an existential threat to Europe, continuing to receive billions from the export of energy resources to EU countries and through European waters.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga appealed to European countries to start an active fight against the “shadow fleet” of tankers. “European Truth” writes about it.

Russia’s so-called shadow tankers continue to illegally transport oil, providing significant revenues for the Kremlin. Thus, Russia poses an existential threat to Europe by continuing to earn billions from energy exports to and through European waters. These funds are used to finance military aggression against Ukraine and threats to the security of the Euro-Atlantic region.

“Europe can and must deprive Russia of its bloody energy revenues. The Russian “shadow fleet” of old and poorly insured oil tankers is an urgent threat of environmental disaster in Europe,” the head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

We will remind that on June 24, the Council of the EU announced new sanctions aimed at Russian tankers from the so-called shadow fleet. In July, more than 40 European countries agreed on a joint plan to combat this fleet at the summit of the European Political Community.

Recently, USM wrote that the “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation is increasing the volume of oil transportation despite the sanctions.
